At the start of the Primera Division season Barcelona want to be champions. They start their campaign at home against one of the modest teams in the league Rayo Vallecano. Although there are more than 1.2 billion euros in debt on the credit side, the Catalans went on a big shopping in the summer. Raphinha, Jules Kounde and Robert Lewandowski cost 153 million euros. There is harsh criticism around the club, and quite a few believe that this will also affect the sporting performance. Some stars are gone, while others will only accept significant cuts in their salaries. The stadium name has to change for a financial reasons obviously and is now called Spotify Camp Nou. Barcelona remained undefeated in the pre-season as Lewandowski also scored his first goals. The bookies favorize the home side but interestingly Rayo Vallecano managed to win both matches 1-0 against Barca last season. |
