Luton Town has made it into the semi-final playoff as 6th in the Championship. Two hurdles remain to be overcome for the Hatters to return to the English top flight exactly 30 years after their relegation. For example Huddersfield Town ended the regular season in 3rd place. Luton have suffered just four defeats in 23 games so far this season at their home Kenilworth Road. Only Bournemouth and West Brom have suffered fewer home defeats. With a 1-0 win against Reading last weekend, Luton secured a place in the play-off on their own and were not dependent on other results. A remarkable development when you consider that two years ago they were in the relegation battle. Huddersfield are not only third-placed in the championship, but also a club the Hatters have yet to score against this season. There was a goalless draw between those two in October and a 2-0 victory to Huddersfield a month ago. |
