The four semi-finalists of Spain's Copa del Rey are just one step away from the grand final. In one of the two second legs, Athletic Bilbao hosts Atletico Madrid. The game is very open. There is no clear favorite. The great attacking power of the two teams will be visible in the upcoming meeting. Because the second leg is all about goals. Even though both Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid have nothing to do with winning the Spanish championship, these teams are having a passable season. Atletico Madrid is in fourth place, only behind top clubs Real Madrid, Barcelona and the big surprise Girona. The capital city team is again being pursued by their upcoming opponents from Bilbao. Athletic are fifth, three points behind Atletico. The first leg in Madrid this season ended at the beginning of February with an away win for coach Ernesto Valverde's team. Winger Alex Berenguer scored the golden goal from a penalty. Athletic Bilbao currently won nine home games in a row. Atletico Madrid have only won four away games in the league and are only eighth in Spain's away table. |
